I have been so impressed with this health department. Especially compared to the one in Sevier County. Almost all of the staff has been extremely friendly and helpful. Wait times are very reasonable. Overall great experiences.
Perhaps the most irritating thing was that they lost their "family planning" employee earlier this year. You are required to see her once a year while getting birth control. Well they hadn't replaced her for 4 months and my appointment with her had expired. They gave me aggression and argued with me every time I got my shot, as if it was my fault I missed my appointment! There was no employee to do my check up!?
This place is a joke. I called to ask about having a blood pressure test for an aquantance and I was told that they were not accepting any new patients and that I should call another Health Department. I thought that the County Health Department was supposed to be helpful and concerned. I guess I was wroung. I have had a lot more help from a Commercial Clinic.
They threatened to stop giving me it until they found a new family planning employee. I am currently looking for a new health department.
Everyone is always very nice and helpful even on the phone. From what I can see very clean and I feel as though they really try their best to do what they can to help or direct me in right way with a phone number. And all the ladies up stairs are just the sweetest ladies and they are always friendly to my little girl.
Nursing staff is great getting an appointment can be tricky but they are usually pretty good about trying to help.
When I first starting using this health department a year ago, it was great. Considering it is a state ran facility, it was exceptionally fast and professional. However, this most recent year (2017) it has began to sink significantly. I only go once, every three months, to get a depo shot. Maybe it is new staff, but they are pretty bad. I watched too staff women argue at the check in desk while trying to answer the receptionist's questions. I've had the nurse come give me my shot while having a full conversation with another employee and act as if I wasn't there while sticking the needle in! Wait times are awful now. I was the only person on the sign in sheet and waited 1 hour to get a shot, which only took about two minutes.
