Went to Ritchie Tractor near Maryville TN with $4000 In my pocket to buy a John Deere zero turn mower. Went there not once but twice with my wife actually. Stayed there 30-40 minutes both times and never could get a salesman to talk to me. I looked at the mowers. Went inside and stood and waited. Nobody even acknowledged me. Got disgusted and left.
Found them online as a Honda authorized service center. I took my self propelled mower in to have the transmission fixed or replaced. I told them that it started and ran without issue and I just needed the transmission fixed. 2 weeks later I get a call stating it was just the clutch cable and they needed to replace the pull starter housing. Total 120$. I was ok with that. Then 2 weeks later I had to call to see if it was ready and was told that they had ordered a new transmission and installed it but it was the wrong one so they had ordered another one and it would be ready 3 days from then. 2 Weeks later I had to call to see what the status was and was told that they had to replace the coil pack and it would be an additional 300$ to fix the transmission because it needed a new one. At that point I told them I would just come pick it up. For the 120$ they fixed an engine that was running fine, replaced blades that had been used for 1 season and replaced the pull start housing ( which was working already) and replaced the starter coil and sparkplug and gave me a clutch cable still in the bag. The service rep was nice and said that they had a mower tech that was working on it quit during the process so I am not going to be too hard on them but still.... took it in for one thing and they fixed another ( that wasn't broke) and it still is not fixed. I found a transmission online and will complete the repairs myself. I understand that I was "little fish" to them but still.
We went to the Maryville location and we were helped by Laci. She was awesome. No hassle, knows her stuff, and extremely helpful. She was helping myself and another client and was able to answer each of our questions without neglecting either one of us. We just took out the RZR today and we are very pleased!
Drove a little over an hour with traffic from sevierville and broke about every traffic law there is due to I was running late and getting there minutes before they close I got to the parts counter to pick up my part that me and the parts guy talked about and were on the same page about over the phone a day prior we'll when I got there it was the wrong part and I started to get upset as one would well turns out it wasn't his fault it was the other store that the part was suppose to come from pulled the wrong thing and sent the wrong thing to him... I forget the guys name but he went above and beyond when he suggested that it was the right thing to have it mailed right to my house so I didn't have to make the 2 hour round trip to come get a 6 dollar part. That is service you don't find hardly anywhere anymore and that is why I will most certainly recommend and continue to shop with that store. I was shocked when he brought it up while I was getting mad mentally preparing to fight traffic on another trip over 6 bucks.... Ritchie tractor is awesome and if this is the kind of service I can expect from them and there willingness to make things right over the little stuff I can't wait to do more business with them in the future
I went to Lowes and bought a Husquevarna. They delivered it for free. On the phone Ritchie had told me that they would charge me for delivery even though they were only a mile away.
I will happily never set foot in Ritchie Tractor again, or ever buy a John Deere product if this represents how their dealers operate.
